Another Big Shot Idea for Fabric

I’m very excited to show you one of my latest creations!  I did have to take my sewing machine out of retirement to make this, but it was so worth it!

Tah Dah!  My version of a Rag Bag!

p1080550

Isn’t it awesome?  I used the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Square Die to cut the squares and cotton batting and the Flower Folds Die to make the pink flower.  I actually cut 8 layers of fabric at once, 6 layers of batting! After checking with several sources on how to make one, I ended up changing things up and making my own plan.  I wanted my bag to be sturdy and hold its shape, so I added a layer of interfacing.  So there are actually 4 things sewn together to make each square; fabric, interfacing, batting, and another layer of fabric.  The lining is all one fabric and the same as my clasp and handles.  Finished size is approx. 12 x 12.

p1080549

If you want to learn how, come to my Big Shot Class on March 4th!  RSVP by March 2nd.  We’ll be learning several fun projects using fabric.  (You won’t actually make the bag in class, but enough to start your own. Depending on interest, I may be persuaded to do a Rag Bag class!)

What do you think?

More Big Shot Flowers~

My downline, Krista Tesky, taught those that attended my last group get together how to make these adorable felt roses.  (Makes you wish you were part of my group, huh?!  Well, you can, and it’s a great time to join my group because both the starter kits are 15% off through March 31st!)   Click here to learn more!

p1080553

Can you stand it?  I know. . . it’s awesome!  She actually taught me how to make these roses a few weeks earlier.  As I walked past my new creation and then looked at the new Sweet Pea stitched felt, I thought to myself, “Self, you could make your own jumbo stitched felt leaves for that awesome rose!”  I listened to myself and gave it a whirl!  You are looking at the result of my experiment.  I love it!

How’d you do that?  (I know you’re asking that!)  First, we used the Circles #2 Die to make the rose.  I used the larger of the two scallops on the Scallop Circle #2 Die to make the leaves.

I’ll be teaching how to make these and more great projects with fabric and felt in a Big Shot class at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 4th.  RSVP by Tuesday, March 2nd if you plan to attend.

Be sure to stay tuned to see more, yes more, great Big Shot projects using fabric!

Back in the saddle. . .

. . . finally!  I know it’s been awhile since I last posted!  So much has happened and life has been very busy!  One of the reasons I love being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is that I can slow down or pick it up when it works best for me!  (As a matter of fact, during Sale-a-bration is a great time to sign up as the starter kit is 15% off and you get a FREE stamp set!)  Give me a call or send me an email if you’d like to learn how you can take advantage of this special offer!

The holidays were busy with a  trip to Fargo before Christmas to pick up Mom and bring her to Mendota Hgts to be with us and another after to take her home again.  Each year I’m more grateful to have her with us!

I spent time before and after Christmas preparing projects to demonstrate at the annual Stampin’ Up! leadership conference!  The theme of my demo booth was Sale-a-bration.  Oh, and by the way, the conference was in sunny Phoenix this year. . . 70 degrees each day!  Just another perk of being a SU! demonstrator!    Here’s a photo of me with the sign for my demo booth!

p1080156

Here’s what the booth looked like!  You can’t see it in the photo, but there was a mirror above me for those farther back to see what I was up to!  (I think I know what it’s like to be the guy that sells vegetable choppers at the state fair!)

p1080165

Literally hundreds of demonstrators stopped by to watch my demonstration.  I must admit that I was very nervous!  I had so much to share and the time flew by very quickly.  Here’s a photo of my display boards.

p1080169

p1080170

The second board shows two of the classes that I have coming up!

At the top is the Dots & Designs Card Class coming up on January 28th and at the bottom is the Wonderful Watercolor Class coming on February 1st!  Click to download a form with all the details!

It’s good to be home again and working on my calendar for stamping events!  I learned so much and can’t wait to share it with all of you!

The winner of the drawing associated with the 12 Days of Christmas Sales is Pam Dyer!!!! Congratulations, Pam!  You get your choice of a My Digital Studio, a stamp set from my collection (and there are awesome sets to choose from), or an exclusive stamping time with me!

Build a Bear® and Stampin’ Up!® Workshop

I held my first Build a Bear® and Stampin’ Up!® Workshop on Friday night!  I had so much fun preparing for it, but even more fun during it!  While the girls (14 of them!) viewed the new Hal & Holly Moose™ Christmas DVD, I spent time showing the moms & grandma the Build a Bear® collection of products that Stampin’ Up!® offers.  I gave them instructions for helping their children with the projects they would make together once the movie ended.  Vickie, the ingenious hostess mom, thought to bring Chicago mix popcorn and juice boxes for treats for the girls while they watched the movie.  That was totally a hit!

When the movie finished, we gathered in my stampin’ studio for some stampin’ fun!  Each of the girls used the Big Shot to cut out their own bear to go their 6×6 page.  They also stamped an adorable card!

babw-6x6

This is the 6×6 page we made.  Some will use it for their next BABW experience and I was informed that some will use it for a photo of one of their many previous BABW experiences.  (Some of them reeeeaaalllly like Build a Bear!  (Supply list:  Stampin’ Up! Bear Die, Beary Girl Sizzlit, Raspberry Lemonade DSP, and the Beary Nice Wishes stamp set.)

babw-card

Here’s the card we made!  I received this one in a swap earlier in the year.  It was created by DW.  (That’s all the info I have from the back of the card.)  Supply list: Texture Plates Kit #4, Seal of Pawthenticity and Beary Nice Wishes stamp sets, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″, and Scallop Circle Punches.

Here are some photos of the fun!
